Maldon Caravan Park, Maldon Vic

Weekend at Maldon CP, arrived around Midday Friday after a breakfast for champions @ “Maccas” on the way. First to arrive so we had the pick of the area so a little time deciding (as usual) set up, while during the set up Linda was “perfecting”  the look of the annex and the ladder gave way under her and she dropped straight to the ground while holding the “spreader bar” after a lot of helpful advice from Linda on what to do next I managed to track down the park Owner and asked him to change a couple of ends around on some poles we were not using and, all good now just need to get a new spreader bar but the problem for the weekend was resolved.  We then headed into town to buy medical supplies as her foot was pretty sore as I was informed numerous times.

Scott and Sue arrived set up camp and then it was drinks from around 2pm, an early start to the evening which lasted close to midnight with Geoff  & Kay + Mark arriving both couples we hae camped with on previous occasions another family arrived who we had previously met on another forum some years ago. Pizzas for dinner washed down wit some cheers

Up for a breakfast of bacon, eggs, tomatoes and toast then off the ‘Hanging Rock Markets” for a look around back to camp around 1pm for a very lazy afternoon, camp fire where Swannie & Rose + Tom who had arrived earlier in the day and early night = 10pm to bed.

Up early with a breakfast of pancakes packed up camper with tropical roof attached (this will save some arguments in the future) zipping this to the camper was a PIA arrived home around Midday

Not a lot of photos as no driving and exploring just R&R weekend, we camped here Sep 15 so not a lot new. The pole is the last photo below called the camper place today for replacement !!!

Running Creek Reserve, Howqua Vic

Back to Running Creek Reserve for our 3rd “Mel Cup” weekend with Myswag.org friends we have met over the year’s. Arrived before lunch on the Friday to see the camp area quit full a different picture to previous years. The main river crossing joining a number of camp grounds along this part of the river had a “Road closed” sign which stopped everyone from crossing and packing into this area, while full was not that  bad and all our group managed to camp close by

During the evening a number of Police, Ambulance and SES vehicles drove into camp where a “camper” had done some damage to his knee some distance along a track and was assisted out buy around 14 of the search party needing to cross the river with knee deep freezing water the entire exercise lasted around 4/5 hrs few drinks around the fire and off to bed

Saturday into Mansfield for the morning coffee and cake at the bakery before home for an early start with a few drinks before dinner, camp fire with more laughs and drinks and in bed around midnight

Sunday the others decided to take a drive up the “high country” as this is the first weekend that this areas is open post winter we decided to have a lazy day around camp and ventured into Jamieson for lunch and a drive around some other camp areas further away. Back to camp to get the “pig” ready for a dinner of a mini-roast and vegies early night in bed by 9:30ish up to the sound of rain!!!

We waited for the camper to dry before packing up so that we did not have to muck around unpacking when we go home. Linda managed to catch up after 3 days without internet coverage once she was contented she managed to sleep all the way home with a lunch stop in between

Gentle Annie Caravan Park, Whitifield. Vic

Had arranged to go camping with some friends who had decided that the weather was going to be too bad and decided to pull out of the weekend and the caravan park we originally booked into were concerned that they also would be flooded and unable to hold our group.

I called around and found Gentle annie CP and 3 other couples  showed interest in attending so it was Gentle annie for the weekend, forecast was not too bad we thought so we were off for the weekend.

Arrived at the CP to showers all afternoon when Garrick and his family arrived and they set up camp in the rain tried to get the fire going was successful until the rain came back and made sitting around the fire a non-event, think we were all in bed by 8pm.

Rained all night, wind was enough to move the camper around a little woke in the morning noticing the weather forecast for the rest of the day and the Sat was more rain, a quick decision to bite the bullet and head home called the others letting them know we were heading home as the weather was terrible. Linda noticed that the water level had to closer to the camper

Packed up in the wet and off home, now will spend the next 2 days drying out everything, new trip Mel Cup weekend hope the weather gods are on our side next time

The 1 positive for them tip is we had never camped or done a day trip out that way a place we will defiantly explore in the coming months “the king valley” region

This photo shows the water level 18hrs after the next picture, both are the same "fire pit" area
