Cowes Caravan Park, Phillip Island. Vic

Spent our Wedding Anniversary @ Phillip Island staying at Cowes Caravan Park we hired a cabin for 2 nights, clean, warm and reasonably priced for the 2 nights.

Arrived at Phillip Island around 1pm straight to the info center to get some local knowledge and pamphlets on the local attractions booked that night for the Penguin Parade while we were there then a stop at the Chocolate Factory not the best we have visited and wanted to charge around $17 for a tour of the factory we did not stay long then off to the Caravan park to load the fridge up with alcohol.

Went for a drive in to the main part of town, we want to book an afternoon cruise however were booked out to the following Thursday a little disappointed but life went on, walked around town looking for “gloves” as the weather was wet, overcast and a little on the cool side drove out to San Remo for lunch at the Fish CO-OP then out to the Penguin Parade ready for the show.

A huge complex with food and gift shops then a walk out on a boardwalk to the seating area waiting for the penguins to arrive. A huge area with seating like a amphitheater on the beach the penguins arrive in small batches walked up the beach then into the area for the night on our way back to the “info center” you could see them making their way in the burrows for the evening would have been a few hundred attending that night mostly international friends!!!

Stopped at the local RSL for dinner watched the football back in the cabin and planning the following days agenda

Saturday morning up  for breakfast in town @ Madcows Cafe, then a drive to the Nobbies center where we walked around the boardwalk they have on the most western side of the island we spent the next few hour’s driving around the island and stopping at different places Kitty Miller bay, Shipwreck SS Speke, Pyramid Rock lookout, Rhyll inlet, Churchill Island out to Wanthagi and stopped at the “Rusty Water brewery for a beer on the way back to cabin. Dinner was the local Thai restaurant back to the cabin and in bed by 8:30 as we had both been crook over the weekend with the flu

Up early Sunday for the drive home Maccas breakfast on the way and home by Midday. A nice weekend with another item penguins off the “bucket list” of things to see
