Dargo Hotel, Dargo

Another Myswag camp (our first in our NEW SWAGS) the plan was to stay overnight at the Dargo Pub Dargo Hotel camping area which is out the back of the pub close to a creek that runs through and drive the iconic Blue Rag Rang track   Blue Rag range however the weather conspired against us.

Left home around 8am Friday met up with another couple Hutchie and his wife Wendy done lunch in Bright overlooking the ovens river in a park nearby, easy lunch the drive to Dargo. Travelled towards Mt Hotham them took the Dargo-High plans road over the top of the mountains elevation was around 1100m to Dargo mist and fog in some places had visibility to only a few meters (in the middle of summer!!!!) gota love Victoria weather

Arrived at the Pub where others had set up Vic+ Graeme, Clarky soon after Adam arrived so we set up camp down near the creek 5-swags and a CT. After a few drinks around camp we headed to the pub for dinner then back for a few more after dinner drinks then off to our much anticipated sleeping accommodation this was after Linda (drunk as a skunk found new uses or her newly purchased shewee)

Rained overnight /all night but we had set up our camp where we stayed dry all night the rain hitting the tarp was a constant all night but somewhat relaxing we slept relatively well Linda even managed to wake me with her snoring - we have separate king single swags for that reason !!!!

Up early forgot to fill the jerry cans with water so making coffee consisted of leaving the kettle out in the rain to let the water drip in from the tarp and using the water from the melted ice in the esky then a feed of bacon on bread then packed up for a 4WD (Blue Rag was not done due to being overcast with mist, clouds and rain) this is the highest point in Vic with views of the mountain tops as far as you can see, we intend to attempt this latter in Feb/March

Left camp and headed out to a track called "crooked river track" going to Talbotville this track has some 18? odd river crossings which are normally quite low but given the rain in recent days the river was higher so we turned around as my level of 4WD experience was not as high as the rest so we headed back to Dargo then on towards Bright to discs our 2nd nights camp with Hutchie + Wendy, we meet up and decided to head home as another night in the rain was not as appealing as heading home. quick look at a place called "Buckland Valley" nice cam area but was overrun with fly's as soon as we got out the car probably a better place to camp outside of summer

The drive in along Dargo /High Plains road in some places
visibility was only a couple of meters

Another pic of the drive over the Mountains

More of the mountains on the drive in
